Look Good and Do Good at the 9th Annual BOOtox Spectacular

When I was growing up, Halloween was a store-bought costume worn to a school carnival followed by trick or treating to nearby neighbors. No one really thought much about Halloween ahead of time. Wow! Things have changed! It’s no longer about one day of costumes, candy and carnivals. It has become a multibillion-dollar business, second only to Christmas, with a predicted $8.4 billion dollars to be spent this Halloween season.

And it’s no longer just for kids. We adults are enjoying huge costume competitions that have people planning their prize-winning outfits weeks ahead. The single, hand carved pumpkin on the porch has turned into lavish light shows with animated yard characters, block parties, and big events around town. I like seeing that it seems to be moving away from ghouls and goblins, mischief and meanness, to pop culture, celebration, and good-natured fun and worthy causes.

There is a very special event where you can celebrate Halloween a few days early while learning ways to make yourself look good and FEEL GOOD because purchases for yourself will go toward a worthwhile cause. And it all very cleverly happens at a doctor’s office.

It’s time for the 9th annual BOOTOX SPECTACULAR at the beautiful offices of Dr. Gilly Munavalli ‘s Dermatology, Laser, & Vein Center of the Carolinas located in Charlotte.

The doctors, nurses and staff, all skilled skin specialists, dress in creative costumes to make it festive and fun, but none the less a learning experience for those interested in finding ways to make you look as young as you feel. Here is a photo from last year’s event:

There will be experts to show you new technology and products to get rid of age spots, cellulite, wrinkles and scars. They will show us dermal fillers to restore volume and fullness to those lips and cheeks. And if you decide to go for it, the products are on sale at their lowest prices and best of all, proceeds from the party go to help fight the deadliest forms of skin cancer.

While you are saving money and doing something for yourself, you can also help save lives with a portion of the proceeds going to two favorite charities, the Purple Promise Foundation to lead efforts to find better treatments and find a cure for melanoma cancer and the Isabella Santos Foundation to fight cancer in kids.

I plan to be there because I am fascinated with fillers and other facial injections that are not as scary as things that involve scalpels and I want to learn more. I’m especially interested in a brand-new product for plumping the lips – If I get brave and try it, I will write all about it!

Dr GillyIf, like me, you’re a little shy about letting others know you are curious about ways to look younger, keep in mind that everyone at the party will be there for the same reasons you are: learning to look good and DO SOME GOOD! And you also might be comforted to know that Dr. Gilly Munavalli (pictured left) was just named one of the top ten dermatologists in all of the eastern United States. He is a native of  Salisbury, North Carolina and enjoys being back in his home state.

Having trained at the top medical universities, Dr Gilly has performed cosmetic procedures on prominent political figures, professional athletes, and actors during his career in California, Maryland, and here in the Tar Heel State. Even so, his favorite patients remain the ones afflicted with skin cancer who put their trust in him to provide a 99% cure rate with Mohs Micrographic surgery and perform complex facial reconstructive surgery to make them look their best!
