When I travel, one of my favorite things to do is visiting local museums. There are so many beautiful, informative and engaging exhibits to explore, and the best part is, most are free (Date Your Mate Month idea, anyone?).
In honor of International Museum Day today, I’m sharing my top picks for museums around the country.
Located in midtown Manhattan, this historic art museum contains famous works such as Vincent van Gough’s “The Starry Night.”
Perhaps one of my favorite exhibits in the country is James Turrell’s “The Light Inside”, displayed at MFAH. It is a gorgeous, illuminated tunnel that connects the two buildings and makes you feel as if you are floating.
Did you know the North Carolina Museum of Art was one of the first? This 40-gallery museum, located in Raleigh offers an amazing array of beautiful artwork!
The Getty museum is spread across two scenic landscapes. The Getty Center hosts the majority of the collection while but the Getty Villa, located closer to Malibu, contains art from ancient Greece and Rome!
Alas, my absolute favorite museum in the world is The Met! This New York City landmark is not only the largest museum in the United States, it also offers some truly delightful exhibits, such as the Temple of Dendur.
