Fashion Friday: The October Coat

With the unseasonably warm weather this whole month, I was a little concerned that I would not get to wear my favorite “October Coat”.  For many years now, I’ve worn this treasured coat designed by my friend Barbara Tfank throughout the month of October. This treasured piece has become my go-to transition coat into the fall season. The lighter weight fabric in the colors of autumn leaves with a dash of Halloween embodies everything “October.”

Barbara Tfank is famous for her timeless designs in fabulous fabrics and flattering styles.  I learned from her that the same mill that manufactures Chanel fabrics made this tweed.  As always, given her attention to detail, Barbara Tfank found the perfect vintage buttons to really make the style pop.  If I don’t wear it out, this coat can easily be passed down to my daughter and will continue to bring compliments.  Be assured that when you choose a Barbara Tfank garment, it will become a favorite forever.

I try to always stay current and like to add trendy pieces or accessories each year during the wearing of The October Coat.  You may also notice I switched my trusty tote to my new Gucci bag that is sure to become a classic as well.  Gucci is truly having a roaring moment and now is a great time to grab one of their iconic bags. Gucci has a way to make us love whatever they put out, as it is sure to always make a statement.  You do not have to be a Clemson fan to want tigers on your clothes and accessories this year, thanks Gucci!

Peaking out from under my coat, you can see my black sweater by Altuzarra embellished with autumn toned “jewels.” Every closet needs a comfortable and versatile pair of black pants.  My black knit Cinq a Sept pants (that I wear year round) has the perfect slit to show off my black Altuzarra shoes because on a chilly fall day I’m all about the comfort.

These pieces can be found at Capitol Charlotte and Saks Fifth Avenue online.
