Recipe Revamp: Sausage and Egg Brunch Casserole

As a reminder of our beautiful brunch basket giveaway from Dean & Deluca, including a wonderful wine and other gourmet brunch treats, I wanted to share with you my go-to favorite brunch recipe for Sausage and Egg Brunch Casserole.

This is delicious for any meal, but especially enjoyed for brunch, whether before an early Panther game or the upcoming holiday gatherings. It’s convenient in that it can be prepared ahead of time and I am always asked for the recipe.

  1. Brown and crumble the sausage. Drain well. Combine the eggs, half and half, sage, salt and pepper. In an 8 x 11 inch or 9 x 13 inch casserole, layer the bread to fit the bottom of the casserole. Spread the sausage over the bread. Pour the egg mixture over the sausage. Cover with the grated cheese.
  2. This can be made ahead and refrigerated until ready to bake.
  3. Bake at 350 degrees until cooked through, slightly puffed and golden, which is about 30 minutes depending on whether it was refrigerated or not.
